Death to Youth: 30th Photoshoot
Your 30th birthday can be an exciting time for anyone, but especially for a woman. A 30th birthday photoshoot is a must. Because year 30 is such a big and transitional birthday, it is an absolute must for you to celebrate yourself, and capture your essence in this moment. A lot of my clients are new moms, new wives, starting new careers, and overall entering adulthood with lots of change and style.
For Erica’s 30th birthday photoshoot, we not only shot this last minute, but we decided to go with a dramatic, “death to youth” theme, as these photos would mainly be used as her centerpieces for her birthday party. Erica is a make-up and hair stylist in Long Beach, so her glam was done to perfection by her. Because we put this photoshoot together in a matter of days and shot it two days before her party, all of her outfits and accessories are from Amazon. I loved how dramatic the gown was and the string of pearls, with gloves, glasses, and a good heel.
While I do recommend planning your photoshoot with time, sometimes life does not allow us such luxuries. I am always happy to try and accommodate a last-minute birthday photoshoot and will always put my best foot forward to ensure that we can have a successful, flawless, and fun birthday photoshoot. Every birthday should be celebrated and photographed, but especially your 30th birthday!

Did Eve Ever Look This Good?
Maternity Boudoir are some of my favorite sessions to shoot. I also love an outdoor shoot, so I was extremely excited when my client told me she wanted a beach boudoir shoot. The vision came together better than I could have ever imagined it. Stephany is gorgeous and her pregnancy glow was radiating. The beach we shot this at has amazing rocks and an incredible landscape to complement her natural beauty. I imagine this is what Eve would have looked like.
This location is absolutely one of my favorites all year round but in the spring and summer, it flourishes with beautiful poppy flowers and greenery alongside the cliffs and it serves as an amazing backdrop. If you guys want a list of locations that I love to use, please let me know.
Mendoza Family
Wendy has been looking at Alex like this since middle school. I am witness to this as we went to middle school together. They became a couple then and everyone knew Alex and Wendy were a thing. Years later they asked me to take some photos with their little girl, Elsie. Elsie is literally a perfect mix of Wendy and Alex. It is so cool to have captured a love that I watched develop when we were children and that has now flourished into something healthy, strong, and beautiful. It is especially beautiful to witness how the love between Wendy and Alex became an excellent foundation to raise and love their little girl.
I am so happy with how this photoshoot came out. It is so cute and makes me feel so happy that I am able to produce these images for families that want to freeze time and remember these moments. Elsie will grow by the minute but at least we have these to look back on.
How to Shoot Fashion, Without a Budget
It all begins with an idea.
Thrift Store Fashion
When I first started doing photography, like most photographers, I did not have a budget or a team. I just dove in. I created some of my favorite work back then so I wanted to tap back into that as the first shoot in SheWolf Studios. I connected with Miriam, a model based out of LA and we created I hit a local thrift store in Bellflower and the flower district in LA. These are some of the looks I styled.
If you are a photographer or any sort of stylist with no showroom connections or anything like that, please do not close doors on yourself. Make your friends let you borrow their clothes, hit the thrift stores, and get creative. The point is to keep moving forward.
